AE Systems

ACOUSTIC EMISSION SYSTEMS

In 1992 – 1993 “INTERUNIS” produced the first multichannel AE systems A-Line 8S and A-Line 16S based on IBM PC, which marked the beginning of the whole family of multichannel A-Line series AE devices.

Simultaneously with the first AE systems production the software for them also appeared. The first program version included the base set of functions required for acquisition and further processing of AE data.

The full spectrum of AE equipment the company produced in different time is given in Figure below.

For today “INTERUNIS” produced more that 450 AE systems of A-Line series (and four generations of software). The devices high quality and reliability are confirmed by certificates of the State Standard Agency of the Russian Federation, RU.C.28.036A No. 15512, and No. 15492.

The latest generation of A-Line Series devices is presented by AE systems of A-Line 32D family. The software of ?-Line 32D AE systems is realized in Windows 9x, XP environment and has the ample opportunities together with ease of use.

A-Line 32D – DIGITAL ACOUSTIC-EMISSION SYSTEMS OF NEW GENERATION

PURPOSE

  • Non-destructive testing by AE method not taking from service: transfer, field and process pipelines, pressure vessels, tanks, boilers, boring towers, cranes, bridges and other facilities.
  • Detection of cracks birth and growth.
  • Finding of places of corrosion, leakage, and high-level stress zones.
  • Determination of coordinates and evaluation of defect parameters.
  • Tracking of different processes and evaluation of technical state of critical large-scale structures, lengthy or highly dangerous objects on a real-time basis.

A-Line 32D (PCI, PCI-N, PCI-8) – AE systems of traditional architecture are multichannel boards for AE data recording and processing (on the industrial computer base). AE data researched are transferred from the test object via a preamplifier through a coaxial cable to the central unit of data acquisition and processing in an analogue form.

The AE systems of this series developed for the most part evolutionary, and each new version appeared in the family was determined by change to new technologies, by characteristics improvement and addition of new functional capabilities.

The multichannel AE systems built according such ideology are characterized by excellent features, high-rate data processing and equally well suit both the filed works and the researches.

To show the distinctive features of traditional AE systems versions, Table gives their main characteristics.

Now the main AE systems of one type with traditional architecture – A-Line 32D (PCI–8) are series-produced. However, the previous member of this class - A-Line 32D (PCI-N) AE system with an extended frequency rate (up to 5 MHz) is still popular as an inexpensive variant of the board for processing AE data for scientific investigations.

Along with development of the AE systems with traditional architecture, in late 2000 the AE system with a digital data transfer, A-Line 32D (DDM), was designed; this system differs cardinally from all previous members of the A-Line 32D family.

The key feature of this AE system became carrying of the whole recording and computing part from the central computer to the advice to be installed directly at the test object, it received the name AE module.

A-Line 32D (DDM) - systems are multichannel modular AE data acquisition and processing systems of the distributed type with a serial high-speed digital data transfer channel.

The AE systems of this series consist of the central computer and several measuring lines, formed by series-connected AE data acquisition and processing modules (AE modules) according to the number of channels in the system. Amplification of AE signals, filtration, digitization by means of ADC, recording, further digital processing and determination of AE parameters are carried out in the AE module to be located near the AE transducer directly at the test object.

When achieving the high technical characteristics of our devices, we try at the same time to make them the most convenient and easy in service.
