CDM Systems

COMPLEX DIAGNOSIS MONITORING SYSTEMS

One of the major problems for enterprises of oil refinery, petrochemical, chemical and other industries is determination of the current technical state of equipment. The decision of this problem is especially pressing for facilities operating over their normative lifetime.

Because of the long periods of structures operation and annually growing intensity of emergency failures which result in formation of service defects in metal as walls corrosive and erosive wear, discontinuity flaws, exfoliation and cracks, the use of traditional discrete methods of inspection becomes ineffective due to the great labor input, impropriety and locality of these inspection methods.

The radical way for ensuring the required level of structure maintenance reliability is the application of complex diagnosis monitoring (CDM) systems.

The practical experience shows that the CDM systems:

  • make possible to increase the predictability level of process equipment current state and carry out hardware check of the facilities technical state, and operation of the whole system with sending the results directly to the executive;
  • offers increase of the technical devices safe operation and reduction of the premature corrosive wear of process equipment assemblies, early detection of  the mounting and welding defects and increase of the process equipment overhaul  life;
  • reduces costs for the equipment periodic inspections and repair due to early detection of defects.

The CDM systems enable the execution of a continuous check (monitoring) of the facility technical state when in service on the basis of different NDT methods, methods for measuring the stress-strain state, means for measuring the process working parameters, and methods for observing the factors effecting on facility damaging.

The necessity of CDM systems installation is reasonable at the facilities having the following features:

  • the structural failure may cause considerable material and ecological losses, human victims;
  • access for carrying out the structure periodic inspection and check is hindered or impossible;
  • a significant amount of preparatory works and works on periodic check at the facility requires its partial or full shutdown, and building of auxiliary structures for conducting this inspection;
  • the structure has low operational life;
  • requirements of guideline.
